FREDONIA, N.Y.—The Allegheny College men's swimming team finished second at the Fredonia State Blue Devil Invite Saturday (Dec. 8).
The Gators finished the event with 668.5 points. Penn State Behrend won the event with 1,043.5 points. Host Fredonia State took third with 528 points. SUNY Brockport took fourth with 452 points while Alfred State rounded out the field with 417 points.
In the morning session, Logan Indest finished second in the 1650-yard freestyle with a time of 16:38.16. Anastasios Mihalopoulos placed 12th in the event with a time of 19:41.50.
Jack Van Meter competed in the finals of the 200-yard backstroke, taking third with a time of 2:00.30.
Karl Stuntzner-Gibson competed in the finals of the 100-yard freestyle. He finished in second with a time of 47.98. A trio of Gators swam in the B-Final of the event. Daniel Beck finished second in the B-Final with a time of 50.13. Tucker Harvey clocked in at 51.22 to place fifth in the heat, while DJ Merchbaker took sixth with a time of 51.36.
Four swimmers represented the Gators in the finals of the 200-yard breaststroke. Justin Katchur finished second with a time of 2:07.60. Brian Corletti (2:15.91), Justin Leary-Bignayan (2:16.19) and Been Blackburn (2:18.69) finished fifth through seventh, respectively. Daniel Lodzins swam in the B-Finals of the event, finishing 10th overall with a time if 2:18.21.
Logan Indest won the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 1:53.40. His time established a new pool record in the event. Anastasios Mihalopoulos placed sixth with a time of 2:18.65.
The Gators closed the Blue Devil Invitational in the 400-yard freestyle relay. The squad of Lodzins, Katchur, Van Meter and Stuntzner-Gibson took second with a time of 3:15.21.
The Gators are off until January 12, when they play host to Saint Vincent College.
