FREDONIA, N.Y.— The Allegheny College women's swimming team continued to roll at the Fredonia State Blue Devil Invitational Friday (Dec. 7).
After two days, the Gators continue to lead the pack with a score of 738.
The highlight of the night came in the final race, the 200-yard freestyle relay. The Gator team of
Sadie Brown,
Aimee Verardi,
Anna Verardi and
McClaren Rodriguez not only established a school record, but they broke the pool record as they won with a time of 1:36.47. The previous best time in Gator history was set in 2009 by Ashley Whitehead, Megan McGuire, Erin Ham and Megan Knox at 1:37.51.
The Gators led off the night in the 400-yard individual medley.
Emily Schaefer picked up the win in the event, finishing with a time of 4:42.49.
Megan Corletti took third in the final with a time of 4:59.97, while
Riley Aul was just behind in fourth with a time of 5:01.43.
Allegheny then dominated the 100-yard butterfly, taking the top-five spots.
Anna Verardi won the race with a time of 59.32. Brown took second with a time of 59.41.
Miranda Farley was in third with a time of 59.73.
Aimee Verardi took fourth with a time of 1:00.19 while
Rachel Tobler closed out the top-five with a time of 1:00.92. Aul also took eighth in the finals with a time of 1:04.24.
The Gators continued to roll as they went 1-2 in the 200-yard freestyle. Rodriguez won the race with a time of 1:58.12.
Miranda Farley was runner-up with a time of 1:58.40.
Alyson Codner also swam in the finals, taking seventh with a time of 2:02.20.
Claire Collier won the B-Final of the event with a time of 2:06.77.
Paige Pethel finished 16
th with a time of 2:16.04.
After going 1-2 in the 200-yard freestyle, the Gators took the top-three spots in the 100-yard breaststroke.
Lauren Isaacs won the event with a time of 1:07.17. Corletti took second with a time of 1:09.54 while
Savannah Plaskon finished with a time of 1:10.13 to take third.
Maddie Janvrin brought home another Gator win in the 100-yard backstroke as she captured the event with a time of 58.70.
Anna Verardi was runner-up in the race with a time of 59.32.
Megan Munzek took fourth with a time of 1:03.51, while
Lizzy Kee took eighth with a time of 1:06.62.
The Gators conclude the Blue Devil Invite Saturday (Dec. 8).
