OBERLIN, Ohio -
Senior Bobby Over took first, while three Gators finished in the top 20, to lead Allegheny to a third-place finish in a strong field of 31 teams at the Inter-Regional Rumble, hosted by Oberlin College.

Over bested the field of 278 runners by nearly 22 seconds, covering the 8K course in a time of 25:01.3 to earn his second individual title of the fall.

"Bobby had a commanding lead from the beginning, and never let off," said Allegheny head coach Brent Wilkerson.  "He won with about a 200-meter lead, and was really, really tough for the entire race."

Sophomore Logan Steiner finished fourth overall, timed in 25:28.8, while junior James Rynes recorded a personal-best time of 25:47.3 to finish 19th.  Senior Jack Denison (26:18.3) and junior Alex Simon (26:34.7) rounded out the Gators' top five, as the squad recorded a team score of 105.

"For Logan," Wilkerson said, "it was really the first time that he's been able to break away from the chase pack, and be involved with the top group from the start.   Rynes put a big dent in his all-time personal best, and that was awesome to see.  Denison was affected a bit by the elements, with how rainy and sloppy it was.  It hampered him a bit, but he gave a good effort."

As a team, the Gators, ranked 20th in the most recent United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association national poll, finished behind only fifth-ranked New York University and #19 SUNY-Geneseo.

"Our guys finished right around where I thought we should," said Wilkerson.  "I'm pretty excited about it."

The Gators will now be off until Saturday, November 2nd, when Allegheny plays host to the 2013 North Coast Athletic Conference Cross Country Championship, and Wilkerson says that his team is ready to defend its 2012 title on its home turf.

"We're really excited to host the conference championships that are coming up.  Our guys will be ready to race on their home course."
