Women’s Tennis Perfect as Can Be in Sweep of Thiel

Box Score

MEADVILLE, Pa.
– Despite one more scheduled home match this season, Thursday afternoon's match against Thiel College for the Allegheny women's tennis team was celebrated as Senior Day for their two seniors, Sara Longo and Lauren Kristofco, and what a memorable senior day it was for the pair as the Gators (7-4, 0-0 NCAC) swept Thiel 9-0.

As impressive as the third clean sweep of the season for the Gators is, the squad accomplished a rare feat in the process. Through all the matches played, the Gators did not drop a single game, giving the team the cleanest sheet possible.

Picking up singles wins for the Gators were Carolyn Shetter in flight one, Deborah Landau in flight two, Janna Dickerson in flight three, Laura Steele in flight four, and Kathleen McBride in flight five. Due to a lack of players, Thiel forfeited flight six singles.

The same was true in flight three doubles, but the duos of Kristofco/Longo and Steele/Landau picked up the doubles wins in flights one and two, respectively.

The Gators will look to keep the momentum rolling into their next match on the road against Division-I Robert Morris University on Tuesday, April 12th. The match is scheduled to start at 4:30 p.m.
