ORLANDO, Fla. -- The Allegheny College women's tennis team opened its spring break trip with a 7-0 loss to No. 37-ranked University of Mary Washington on Monday at the U.S. Tennis Association's (USTA) National Campus in Orlando, Florida.
The Gators (12-2) battled a Mary Washington (2-0) team that was not only ranked 37th nationally but also boasted an incredibly strong lineup. The Eagles featured a No. 1 singles player who qualified for last spring's NCAA singles championship and the ninth-best doubles tandem in the Atlantic South Region.

Gabrielle Bassette (Miami, Fla./Miami Country Day) suffered her first singles loss of the year against Addison Felts, who represented the Eagles in the 2025 D-III singles championship and already has wins over Division I opponents from Lehigh University and the Naval Academy this year.
