MEADVILLE, Pa. -- Three different goal scorers connected for the Allegheny women's soccer team and the Gators opened their North Coast Athletic Conference schedule with a 3-0 victory over Ohio Wesleyan.
Kira Kliment notched the first goal for Allegheny during the 22nd minute, blasting a shot from 35 yards out and into the top right corner of OWU's net.
Allegheny took a 1-0 lead into halftime and led by that margin until freshman
Ashley Lehr tallied her first collegiate goal to give the home team some valuable insurance. She jumped on a loose ball, which was mishandled by Battling Bishop goalkeeper Margot Klepetko, and buried a score in the 48th minute.
Nicole Mascia netted the final Gator goal in the 88th minute. She headed in a corner kick off the foot of
Molly Waggoner.
In net,
Emily Karr had four saves for Allegheny (8-3-0, 1-0-0) while Klepetko made five stops for the Bishops (4-6-2, 0-2-0).
Allegheny will be in action next on Wednesday night when it hosts conference foe Wooster. Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m.
