PAC Release
TRAFFORD, Pa. -- For the third time this spring, the Allegheny College men's tennis team received both weekly awards from the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC).
Two freshmen swept this week's awards, as former high school teammates
Adam Memije (Monroeville, Pa./Gateway) was tabbed the PAC Player of the Week and
Zidaan Hassan (Monroeville, Pa./Gateway) was named the Newcomer of the Week. Both players helped the Gators defeat Franciscan University, 7-0, in their only match.
Memije defeated former PAC Newcomer of the Year and an All-PAC First Team singles honoree, Aaron Heinlein, in the No. 1 singles match with identical 6-2 sets. He also earned a 6-2 victory in the No. 2 doubles contest.
Hassan won 18 of 20 games played across his two matches. He was a 6-0, 6-0 winner in the sixth singles match. In doubles, Hassan and
David Rodriguez (St. Ann's, Trinidad & Tobago/Fatima College) defeated their opponents in the third spot, 6-2.
Memije, Hassan, and the rest of the Gators have a busy day on Wednesday, April 8. Allegheny will play two split-squad conference matches, one at the Robertson Athletic Complex at 4:30 p.m. against Westminster College and the other at Geneva College at 6 p.m.
