BIRMINGHAM, Alabama -- A record-breaker, conference champion, and now an All-American.
The Allegheny College sophomore
Evie Ellenberger (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper St. Clair) was crowned a First-Team All-American in the long jump on Friday evening at the 2026 NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships at the Birmingham CrossPlex in Birmingham, Alabama. She finished fifth overall out of 20 qualifiers in the event.
The Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) and All-Atlantic Region Track and Field Conference (AARTFC) champion began her nationals performance by leaping 5.58 meters (18 feet, 3.75 inches) on her first attempt, which was enough to qualify for the nine-woman final. Her fifth jump was even better, measuring 5.68 meters (18 feet, 7.75 inches). That allowed Ellenberger to overtake both Alice Brambati of RPI and Elysse Cumberland of Tufts University to climb from seventh into fifth place.
Centre College's Chloe Hein, who broke the Division III record in the long jump during the regular season, won the national title as expected. Hein set a new meet record at 6.25 meters (20 feet, 6.25 inches). Jillian Amber of SUNY Geneseo was the runner-up at 5.91 meters (19 feet, 4.75 inches), followed by Annabelle Lanik of Trinity University (Texas) in third at 5.88 meters (19 feet, 3.5 inches) and Serena McNeilly of Centre in fourth at 5.81 meters (19 feet, 0.75 inches).
Ellenberger is the first Gator in the storied history of the Allegheny track and field program to garner All-America accolades in the long jump. She's also the first women's track and field student-athlete to receive an All-America award during the indoor season since Emily Forner '19 won the 3,000-meter national championship as a senior in 2019.
