TRAFFORD, Pa. -- Allegheny College's
Mariah Helvy-Bruce (Braddock, Pa./Woodland Hills) was recognized by the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) for her performance at Penn State University as the conference's women's track and field Newcomer of the Week.
At the Penn State Tune-Up on Friday, Helvy-Bruce set a pair of personal records in the 60- and 200-meter races. The first-year sprinter placed 20th in both events, but was the fifth-fastest Division III athlete in the 60-meter dash and the fourth-fastest D-III runner in the 200-meter dash. Among first-years, Helvy-Bruce was sixth and fifth, respectively. Her time of 8.27 seconds in the 60m ranks 10th in the PAC, while her time of 26.84 seconds is the fourth-best in the conference.
Helvy-Bruce and the Gators will return to Youngstown State University's Watson and Tressel Training Site (WATTS) for the 2026 PAC Indoor Championships on Thursday, February 26. Field events will begin at 10:30 a.m., and the track events are scheduled to start at 3 p.m.
