TRAFFORD, Pa. -- For the fifth time this season, the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) has selected Allegheny College's
Pijus Latauskas as the conference's Newcomer of the Week.
In two games last week, Latauskas averaged a team-high 17.0 points per game with 6.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 1.5 steals per game. He was perfect on six attempts from the foul line, and his 52.0 field-goal percentage (13-of-25) was the second-highest on the team.
During Wednesday's home matchup against Hiram College, Latauskas led the Gators to a 67-55 win. He netted 18 points, hauled in five rebounds, dished out two assists, and earned two steals en route to the victory over the Terriers. The 6-foot-8 forward then added 16 points, seven boards, two assists, one block, and one steal in an 85-72 loss on the road Saturday at Washington and Jefferson College.
On the season, Latauskas – who has started all 17 games as a freshman, leads the Gators with 14.4 points per game and is tied for second in rebounding with 5.1 rebounds per contest.
Latauskas and the Gators will return to the hardwood inside Mullen Arena to host Geneva College on Wednesday, January 28, at 8 p.m.
