WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. -- Facing a strong field with many of the best teams from around Regions II and III, the Allegheny College men's golf team finished the Northeast Elite at the Williamsport Country Club in 13th place.

The Northeast Elite featured No. 19 Gettysburg College, No. 22 University of Rochester, and Franklin and Marshall College, which received votes in the latest Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) poll. The Gators shaved five strokes off of their second-round score on Monday and climbed into 13th with a cumulative 617 (+49), placing ahead of Mount Aloysius College (619), Albright College (621), and Westminster College (631).

The 22nd-ranked Yellowjackets from Rochester earned the team victory with a two-day total of 577 (+9), edging the 19th-ranked Bullets from Gettysburg by one stroke. 

Allegheny's top individual performer was sophomore Mekayl Maajid (Lahore, Pakistan/Roots Ivy International), who jumped 14 spots up the leaderboard on Monday and tied for 38th place. Maajid followed up his 78 (+7) on Sunday with a 4-over 75 in the final round. Three of his four birdies came during the second round, and he was one of three Gators to finish with a birdie on the par-5, 456-yard sixth hole.

Maajid was one stroke better than teammate Logan Greer (Beaver Falls, Pa./Riverside), who carded a 12-over 154. Connor Bell (Montrose, Colo./Montrose) and Dylan Kochis (Saint Augustine, Fla./B. Reed Henderson (Pa.)) weren't far behind with identical scores of 155 (+13).
