MEADVILLE, Pa. -- The Allegheny College women's golf team placed three inside the top 20 at the annual Guy and Jeanne Kuhn Memorial Invitational at the Country Club of Meadville on Sunday and Monday.
Senior
Josephine Corey (Lakewood, N.Y./Southwestern Central) and sophomores
Ada Coté (West Henrietta, N.Y./Rush-Henrietta) and
Kessler Potter (Kents Store, Va./Fluvanna County) led the way for the Gators in 15th, 17th, and 19th place, respectively.
Corey carded the team's best individual round on Sunday with an 82 (+11), including a birdie on the par-four 14th. Coté was only one stroke shy of Corey during the first round with an 83 (+12), thanks to nine pars. Potter, who birdied the par-five third during the opening round, fired an 86 (+15). On Monday, however, all three Gators posted the same score with a 14-over 85.
First-year
Elana Khilji (Cranberry Township, Pa./Seneca Valley) made her collegiate debut during Allegheny's home tournament. She led all Gators with two birdies during the opening round and finished in 38th place.
Kenyon College's Sasha Belova secured individual medalist honors with rounds of 73 (+2) and 70 (-1) for a cumulative 143 (+1). The team championship went to Carnegie Mellon University's "B" squad, which held a 45-stroke lead over the rest of the field at 593 (+25).
