NCAC Release
CLEVELAND -- The Allegheny College field hockey team was voted sixth in the 2025 North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) preseason coaches' poll.
Allegheny received 48 points in the poll, finishing ahead of College of Wooster (33), Washington and Jefferson College (32), Transylvania University (22), and Oberlin College (18). Last fall, the Gators defeated each of those four opponents, including overtime wins against Wooster, Transylvania, and Oberlin.
Atop the preseason ranking, two teams were separated by a single point. Ohio Wesleyan University paced the conference with 94 points and five first-place votes. Denison University was second with 93 points and four first-place votes.
Reflecting the results of the 2025 preseason poll, the Gators ended the 2024 campaign in sixth place with a 5-5 record against NCAC opponents. They return two of their three All-NCAC selections from last year: goalie
Rowan O'Toole (Glen Burnie, Md./Archbishop Spalding), the reigning NCAC Newcomer of the Year, and forward
Caroline Smith (Colorado Springs, Colo./Liberty).
The field hockey team begins its nonconference schedule on the road on Friday, August 29, at 4 p.m. against SUNY Brockport.
