GENEVA, Ohio -- Allegheny College's
Laila Davis (Springfield, N.J./Jonathan Dayton) and
Chloe Bonson (Penn Township, Pa./Penn-Trafford) competed on the final day of the 2025 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships at the SPIRE Institute on Saturday.
In the first event of the day, Davis qualified for the finals in the hammer throw. In her debut on the national stage, Davis had the second-best throw in the first flight, clearing 52.09 meters on her first attempt. It was her third career mark above 52 meters. After qualifying for nationals as the 19th seed, Davis finished in ninth place and earned Second-Team All-America accolades. She's the third student-athlete from the women's track and field team to receive All-America honors in the hammer, joining Lexie Mochan '15 and Liz Earley '08.
After qualifying for nationals during the cross country season, Bonson concluded her remarkable junior year by running the 5,000-meter race. She placed 22nd with a time of 17:24.43, her third-best of the 2025 outdoor campaign. Bonson had qualified for the NCAA Championships with the second-best time in program history at 16:43.76 at Bucknell University's Bison Outdoor Classic in April. She's the first Gator to compete in the 5,000-meter run at nationals since Emily Forner '19 did so at SPIRE in the spring of 2019.
