FLEETWOOD, Pa. – The Allegheny men's golf team captured the team title after two rounds at The Moselem Cup held at the Moselem Springs Golf Club April 7-8.
The Gators produced a two round total score of 611 to win the event. The victory came by a 16 stroke margin as Stevens Institute of Technology was the runner-up with a total of 627.
Dylan Kochis (Saint Augustine, Fla./B. Reed Henderson (Pa.)) had the top individual finish for the Gators, taking second in the field of 66 golfers. After shooting a 74 in the first round, Kochis closed out the event with a 75 in round two for a total of 149. He was just two strokes off the lead score of 147 by Tiaan Diedericks of Ferrum.
Carter Hassenplug (North East, Pa./North East) was not far behind Kochis as he tied for third. Hassenplug had round scores of 73 and 77 to finish with a 150, just one stroke off of Kochis.
Zachary Melzar (Sterling, Mass./Wachussett Regional) shot rounds of 76 and 79 to finish with a score of 155, tying him for a 12th place finish.
Connor Bell (Montrose, Colo./Montrose) shaved off seven strokes between the rounds as he finished in a tie for 23rd with a score of 161.
Nadir Khan (Karachi, Pakistan/Karachi Grammar School) rounded out the Gators team score by placing 36th with a two round total of 165.
Mekayl Maajid (Lahore, Pakistan/Roots Ivy International) competed as an individual. He ended the tournament in 26th place after shooting rounds of 77 and 85.
