BOARDMAN, Ohio -- The Allegheny College women's golf team further solidified its third-place standing on the leaderboards after the first round of the 2025 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Spring Championships at the Mill Creek North Golf Course in Boardman, Ohio, on Friday.
After the two fall rounds, the Gators held a 23-stroke lead over fourth-place Thiel College. That advantage grew after Allegheny carded a cumulative 348 (+68) on a dreary Friday, which was delayed in the afternoon due to rain. Through three rounds, the Gators own a team score of 1,080 (+216), plenty of distance ahead of the Tomcats (1,119, +255).
First-place Westminster College added a few strokes to its lead over Washington and Jefferson College with a 331 (+51), six better than the Presidents (337, +57) to kick off the spring half of the conference championship. The totals from both the fall and spring halves of the tournament will be combined to determine the PAC champion and All-PAC honorees.
Senior
Elisa Gomez (La Mirada, Calif./St. Joseph) jumped up the individual leaderboard with Allegheny's best score on Friday. Her 82 (+12) was the second-best of the day, just one stroke behind W&J Megan Joyce and MacKenzie Schmeltz, who both logged an 81 (+11). Gomez had a strong performance on the front nine with six pars, which helped the AC senior move from seventh to fourth place. She sits just six strokes behind Joyce, the individual leader, heading into the final round.
The reigning PAC Newcomer of the Week,
Kessler Potter (Kents Store, Va./Fluvanna County), had Allegheny's second-best score in the third round at 86 (+16). Junior
