PAC Release
TRAFFORD, Pa. -- For the third time this season, the Allegheny College men's tennis team has swept the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) weekly awards.
After leading the Gators to three shutout wins over Waynesburg University, Westminster College, and Washington and Jefferson College,
Anton Hedlund (Hovas, Sweden/Katrinelundsgymnasiet) was named the PAC Player of the Week and
Levente Mihaly (Békéscsaba, Hungary/Békéscsabai SZC Széchenyi István) earned Newcomer of the Week.
Hedlund won all six matches in the No. 1 spot and won all but three games played in doubles and singles combined. He outscored his singles opponents 36-1 with 6-0, 6-0 victories against Waynesburg and Westminster. Despite playing with three different teammates, Hedlund extended his doubles win streak to 16 in a row, highlighted by a 6-0 win over Westminster's top tandem. The Swedish standout moved into second place in program history in career wins with 147 while helping the Gators finish their third consecutive regular season without a PAC loss.
A two-time PAC Newcomer of the Week, Mihaly went 6-0 last week and dropped a mere six games. He played No. 3 singles in a 6-0, retired and 6-0, 6-0 win over Waynesburg and Westminster before jumping to No. 2 in a 6-0, 6-3 victory against W&J. He also won all three of his matches in the No. 2 spot in the doubles lineup, which included a 6-0 shutout against the Titans.
Hedlund, Mihaly, and the rest of the men's tennis team earned a first-round bye in the 2025 PAC Championship Tournament. The Gators will return to action in the semifinal round on Thursday, April 24, at 4:00 p.m. against either fourth-seeded Saint Vincent College or fifth-seeded W&J.
