PAC Release
TRAFFORD, Pa. -- For the second time in his Allegheny College career,
Luke Barker (New Castle, Pa./Struthers (Ohio)) received All-Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) accolades, as announced during the PAC Sports Network awards show on Tuesday night.
An All-PAC Honorable Mention in 2022-23, Barker was promoted to the All-PAC Second Team after leading the conference in scoring this winter. The senior guard paced the PAC in total points (519) and points per game (20.8). He was one of two players to record at least 500 points and the only player in the PAC to average at least 20.0 points per game. Against conference opponents, his scoring average rose to 21.1 points per contest.
Barker not only led the league in points, but he ranked second in free-throw percentage at 85.5%, and his 142 free throws were the most in the PAC. He also finished sixth in assists per game (3.1) and seventh in field-goal percentage (48.9%). In 25 games, Barker reached double-digit points all but three times. He surpassed 30 points on four occasions, including a career-high 41 in the season finale at Bethany College. His 41 points are tied for the fourth-most in a game in program history, while his 18 free throws in that contest rank third.Â
For his career, Barker will graduate this spring first all-time in program history in free-throw percentage (83.1%), fourth in career points (1,454) and made 3-point field goals (181), and fifth in career free throws (301).
In addition to his All-PAC Second Team award, Barker was tabbed Allegheny's representative on the PAC Sportsmanship Team. The PAC Sportsmanship Teams were established to recognize student-athletes who have distinguished themselves through demonstrated acts of sportsmanship and ethical behavior, and are an ongoing effort to recognize and encourage positive sportsmanship among all PAC teams and student-athletes.
