HIRAM, Ohio -- The Allegheny College men's basketball team wrapped up the 2025-26 regular season with an 88-69 road loss at Hiram College on Saturday afternoon.
The Gators (10-15, 8-8 PAC) will now turn their attention to the postseason. Allegheny, the No. 2 seed in the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) North Division, will host the South's No. 3 seed, Franciscan University (20-5, 12-4 PAC), in the quarterfinal round. The Gators and Barons tipoff on Tuesday, February 24, at 8 p.m. inside the David V. Wise Center.
Hiram (6-19, 2-14 PAC) got the better of the Blue and Gold thanks to their best shooting performance of the season. The Terriers were 33-of-56 from the field, equaling a season-high 58.9 field-goal percentage. They also reached double-digit 3-pointers for only the second time this winter.
Allegheny matched Hiram's offense in the early going, and neither side led by more than a possession for the first nine-and-a-half minutes. Treys from
Ryan Lang (Sarver, Pa./Knoch) and
Jayson Perry (Tampa, Fla./Sickles) put the Gators up by one, and another deep bucket from
Max Wallace (Erie, Pa./Cathedral Prep) gave the visitors a 12-9 advantage at the 14:46 mark. Allegheny last led 17-15 after a Wallace free throw, but the Terriers jumped ahead for good with the next four points.
The Gators only trailed by six points at the break, 45-39, but Hiram opened the second half with nine of the first 14 points to push their advantage to double-digits. Allegheny went on a mini 6-0 run midway through the second half to claw within nine points at 62-53, but Hiram maintained the momentum with a 3-pointer from and transition alley-oop over the next 70 seconds.
