Women's Basketball to Host Chatham in PAC Semifinal

MEADVILLE, Pa. -- The Allegheny College women's basketball team is set to host Chatham University in the semifinal round of the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Championship Tournament on Thursday, February 27, inside the David V. Wise Center.

The second-seeded Gators (18-7, 17-3 PAC) and No. 3 Cougars (20-5, 17-3 PAC) will tip off at 7:00 p.m. The first 50 Allegheny students will receive a free t-shirt. Other prizes will be given away throughout the night. Admission is free.

Although both teams finished with identical records against PAC opponents, the Gators won the tiebreaker by sweeping Chatham in both regular-season meetings. Allegheny defeated the Cougars 73-65 in Meadville on November 23 and then earned a road victory in Pittsburgh on January 25 by a 75-65 final score. During Tuesday's quarterfinals, Chatham outlasted No. 6 Bethany College 61-59 to advance to the semis.

The winner of Thursday's matchup will punch their ticket to the PAC Championship Tournament finals on Saturday, March 1, and will face either No. 1 Washington and Jefferson College or No. 4 Grove City College.

Allegheny and Chatham, which has reached the title game in each of the past two seasons, previously met in the 2022-23 PAC Tournament. The Cougars defeated the Gators in the quarterfinal round, 74-56, before upsetting top-seeded W&J in the semis. Last year, Chatham defeated No. 3 Bethany, 66-56, and No. 5 Geneva, 77-50, to capture its first-ever PAC title.

Under fourth-year head coach Kelly Muffley, the Gators posted their winningest season in nearly two decades in 2024-25. Allegheny recorded its first season above .500 since going 15-13 in 2015-16, and the team's 18 wins are the most since going 19-8 in 2006-07.
