PAC Release
TRAFFORD, Pa. -- Coaches from around the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) picked the Allegheny College baseball team to finish among the top three teams in the conference during the upcoming 2025 season.
The PAC announced the results of the annual preseason poll on Wednesday. Allegheny, under the direction of seventh-year head coach
Brandon Crum, was predicted to finish third in the conference after receiving 82 total points in the standings. The Gators were also one of three programs that earned a first-place vote. The five-time defending champs from Washington and Jefferson College received nine first-place votes and 99 points, followed by Grove City College with one first-place vote and 89 points.
Although Allegheny trails Grove City by only seven points, the drop-off to fourth place is quite large. Westminster College was next on the list with 67 points, 15 fewer than the Gators, while Waynesburg University rounded out the top five with 65 points.
The Gators, who finished fourth last season and qualified for the PAC Championship Tournament, also placed five student-athletes on the PAC's Players to Watch list. All five honorees are returning All-PAC selections, including first-team outfielders
Tyson Bryant-Dawson (Oakland, Calif./Manvel (Texas)) and
Matt Jennings (Birmingham. Mich./Brother Rice). Senior shortstop
JD Robinson (Round Hill, Va./Woodgrove), an All-PAC Second Teamer, and honorable-mention pitchers
Mark Schweickert (Richmond, Va./John Randolph Tucker) and
Dawson Thomas (Espyville, Pa./Conneaut Area) were also cited as on the watch list.
Allegheny's 2025 home opener on Saturday, February 15, has been postponed due to winter weather in the forecast. If the weather cooperates, the Gators will kick off the campaign with a doubleheader at John Carroll University on Saturday, February 22.
