BEREA, Ohio -- On Saturday, the Allegheny College women's track and field team was victorious at Baldwin Wallace University's Dr. Taraschke Team Challenge, hosted by the Yellow Jackets at the Harrison Dillard Indoor Track at the Lou Higgins Center.
With 87 total points, the Gators topped the five-team standings. Baldwin Wallace was second with 77 points, followed closely by Case Western Reserve University with 73. Allegheny also earned three individual wins with numerous silver and bronze podium finishes. After the Gators won the 2024 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Cross Country Championship in the fall, it should come as no surprise that Allegheny collected two distance victories at BWU.
Chloe Bonson (Penn Township, Pa./Penn-Trafford), Allegheny's NCAA championship qualifier in the fall, topped a 13-woman field in the one-mile race. She clocked in with a new personal record at 5:12.85, nearly 10 seconds ahead of teammate
Nelly Stafford (Middletown, Md./Middletown) in second place. In the 3,000-meter run, senior
Marrin Crist (Gettysburg, Pa./Gettysburg Area) collected gold with her own PR. Crist shaved nearly five-and-a-half seconds off of her performance at the College of Wooster on January 18, winning the event with a time of 10:40.00. Both Bonson and Crist achieved All-Atlantic Region Track and Field (AARTFC) qualifying times on Saturday.
For the second week in a row, the Gators received a first-place effort in the triple jump from
Aubryanna Snyder (Aliquippa, Pa./Hopewell). The second-year jumper only had to beat her teammate,
Sydney Cernansky (New Brighton, Pa./New Brighton), and she twice reached 10.27 meters on consecutive attempts. Snyder added a runner-up performance in the long jump with a mark of 4.93 meters.
Corinne Inkley (Randolph, N.Y./Randolph Central) and
Emma Miller (Elyria, Ohio/Lake Ridge Academy) each logged AARTFC marks in the pole vault and shot put, respectively. Both earned second place with a season-best performance, as Inkley cleared 3.30 meters in the pole vault and Miller reached 12.39 meters in the shot put.
