TRAFFORD, Pa. -- For the second time this season, Allegheny College's
Evie Ellenberger (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper St. Clair) has been selected as the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Women's Tennis Player of the Week.
Ellenberger led the Gators to a 3-0 week, highlighted by a 5-2 victory over Grove City College in PAC play. She posted an unblemished 5-0 record with three No. 1 doubles wins alongside
Emiliia Grydnieva (Kyiv, Ukraine/Optima). Ellenberger and Grydnieva took down Grove City's top tandem, 6-2, as the Gators handed the Wolverines their first conference loss of the season.
In singles competition, Ellenberger won 24 of the 25 games she played. She defeated Grove City's Iris Kiehl, 6-0, 6-1, in their No. 4 match, before climbing to No. 3 to sweep Emily Peel from the University of Mount Union, 6-0, 6-0.
Through the first eight dual matches and two tournaments of the season, Ellenberger boasts a near-perfect record. She leads all Gators with a 14-0 doubles record and is 8-1 in singles play.
Ellenberger and the Gators host Saint Vincent College in their penultimate PAC match of the season on Monday, October 6, at 4:30 p.m.
