MEADVILLE, Pa. -- The 68th-ranked Allegheny College women's tennis team dropped a 7-0 decision to No. 15 Case Western Reserve University on Friday afternoon at the Robertson Athletic Complex.
The match was the last regular-season competition for the Gators (16-6), who have their sights set on the upcoming NCAA Division III Championships. Allegheny earned an automatic bid to the national championship tournament after winning the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) title in the fall.
CWRU (10-5), members of the ultra-competitive University Athletic Association (UAA), provided a challenging opponent to help prepare the Gators for nationals. The Spartans' lineup featured the top-ranked doubles team and third-ranked singles player in the Central Region.
