PAC Release
TRAFFORD, Pa. -- For the second time this season, Allegheny College freshman quarterback
Nick Barker (Cleveland, Ohio/Padua Franciscan) has been crowned the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Newcomer of the Week.
Barker stepped in during the second half of Saturday's road contest at Hiram College and helped the Gators close out a 28-13 victory over the Terriers. When he took the field midway through the third quarter, Allegheny led 7-6, and Barker widened the gap to 21-6 before the end of the quarter with touchdown passes during each of his first two drives.
The first-year quarterback capped off his first drive with a two-yard touchdown to tight end
Will Griffin (Hingham, Mass./Hingham). He then found receiver
Devin Larry (Loganville, Ga./Loganville Christian) with a deep ball on an out-and-up route that led to a 59-yard touchdown. In less than two quarters of work, Barker completed 7-of-9 passes (77.8%) for 133 yards and two touchdown passes while adding another 22 yards on the ground.
Over the last five games, including two starts, Barker has thrown for 642 yards and eight touchdowns while completing 60.9% of his attempts.
The Allegheny football team will look to build off Saturday's win at Hiram in the final road contest of the 2025 season. The Gators will travel to Westminster College in New Wilmington, Pennsylvania, on Saturday, November 1, at 1 p.m.
