MEADVILLE, Pa. -- The Allegheny College women's golf team hosted its annual home tournament, the Guy and Jeanne Kuhn Memorial Invitational, Sunday and Monday at the Country Club of Meadville.
As a team, the Gators placed seventh overall with a two-day total of 700 (+132). After carding a 353 (+69) on Sunday, Allegheny improved by six strokes with a 347 (+63) in the closing round. The Blue and Gold finished above two Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) opponents, as Thiel College finished eighth with a 731 (+163) and Grove City College placed ninth at 756 (+188).
Carnegie Mellon University, the defending Division III national champions, won the Kuhn for the third year in a row. The Tartans' "B" team had the best round of the tournament on Monday with a 301 (+17) and won the event with a 15-stroke lead over second-place Mount St. Joseph University.
Elisa Gomez (La Mirada, Calif./St. Joseph) and 
Josephine Corey (Lakewood, N.Y./Southwestern Central) both placed among the top 25. After one round, Allegheny's leading duo was tied with identical scores of 83 (+12). Gomez, who two birdied two holes on Monday, was one stroke better in the second round with an 82 (+11). Corey also birdied the par-5 third and fired an 87 (+16) over the final 18 holes.
Kessler Potter (Kents Store, Va./Fluvanna County) was consistent with a 90 (+19) in the first round and a 91 (+20) in the second. Allegheny's biggest mover was fellow first year 
Ada Coté (West Henrietta, N.Y./Rush-Henrietta), who shaved 10 strokes off of her first-round score and climbed three spots up the leaderboard to 36th.
