TRAFFORD, Pa. – Dagney Javes (Frederick, Colo./Dawson School) and
Jacy Diaz (Barranquitas, Puerto Rico/Gallatin (Tenn.)) of the Allegheny volleyball team were named the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively, as they helped the Gators go undefeated at their home invitational.
The Gators finished the event at 4-0, picking up wins against Thiel, Washington and Jefferson, Fredonia and Houghton. They also defeated La Roche in straight sets earlier in the week.
Javes finished the weekend invitational with 55 kills and nine total blocks. Against Washington and Jefferson, Javes had a weekend best 15 kills. The next day against Fredonia, Javes had 14 kills on just 23 attempts while totaling six blocks. She also had a 14 kill performance against Houghton. Earlier in the week at La Roches, Javes had nine kills.
For Diaz, this marks the second time earning the award this season. In four matches, Diaz tallied 91 digs and 13 aces during the invtiationl. Her best performance of the tournament was against Washington and Jefferson, totaling 30 digs and six aces. She also had 28 digs against Thiel. On day two, she had 17 digs against Freodnia and 16 against Houghton. Diaz alos had 16 digs against La Roche.
The Gators are back in action Tuesday (Sept. 16) at Oberlin.
