GRANVILLE, Ohio – The Allegheny men's golf team began their 2024-25 campaign competing at the Ted Barclay Invitational Saturday and Sunday (Aug. 31-Sept.1), hosted by Dension.
 
The Gators finished the 36 hole event in fifth with a score of 593. Wittenberg and John Carroll tied for the win at 584.
 
Carter Hassenplug (North East, Pa./North East) led the Gators on the weekend, shooting a two under 170, finishing as the runner-up. He matched scores each day with identical rounds of 70, two strokes off the lead. In the second round, Hassenplug eagled the par-five, 540-yard 10th. 
 
Connor Bell (Montrose, Colo./Montrose) had the second best finish for Allegheny, tying for 16th with a score of 148. Zachary Melzar (Sterling, Mass./Wachussett Regional) finished 34th with a score of 153.
 
Faaris Cheema (Dubai, UAE/Kings School Al Barsha) put together a 41st place finish with a score of 156 while Nadir Khan (Karachi, Pakistan/Karachi Grammar School) rounded out the Gator scorers with a score of 160. 
 
Mekayl Maajid (Lahore, Pakistan/Roots Ivy International) competed as an individual, tying Cheema with a score of 156.
