TYRONE, Pa. -- Allegheny College men's cross country hit the ground running on Saturday by competing in the season-opening Father Bede Invitational, hosted by Saint Francis University at B & D Acres.
Eight Gators participated in the first race of the 2024 season, a six-kilometer event that featured four Division I programs in Duquesne University, Bucknell University, Mercyhurst University, and the host Red Flash from SFU.
As a team, Allegheny placed sixth overall with 158 points.
Caleb Freeman (Killingworth, Conn./Haddam-Killingworth) led the Gators and was the fourth-best Division III athlete in the race. The junior placed 24th out of 64 individuals with a time of 20:38.50.
Seniors
Desmond Corrado (Crafton, Pa./Carlynton) and
Xavier Grove (Pittsburgh, Pa./CAPA) also placed inside the top 40. Corrado clocked in at 21:15.80 and finished 37th, while Grove was only three spots behind with a time of 21:26.00.
