INDIANAPOLIS -- On Monday afternoon, the NCAA Division III Men's Tennis Committee announced the 44-team bracket for the upcoming NCAA Division III Championships, including Allegheny College's regional site and first-round matchup.
The Gators (15-5), who will make their second consecutive appearance in the NCAA Championships after repeating as Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) champs, will travel to Middlebury, Vermont, and the campus of No. 5-ranked Middlebury College for their regional rounds. Action will begin on Friday, May 10, at 10:00 a.m. against Messiah University, winners of the MAC Commonwealth championship.
The winner of Friday's match between the Gators and Falcons will advance to face the host Panthers from No. 5 Middlebury on Saturday, May 11, at 10:00 a.m. The six-team regional pod also includes Bridgewater State, MIT, and Trinity (Texas). Saturday's winners will meet in the regional finals on Sunday, May 12, at noon.
Messiah (9-8) went 6-0 against MAC Commonwealth opponents in the regular season before taking down Albright College and Stevenson University in the conference tournament. The Falcons qualified for the NCAA Championships for the first time since 2018 with their 10th conference title. Messiah and Allegheny had one common opponent in 2023-24, as the Falcons lost to Grove City College by a 9-0 score in their season-opening match in September.
Middlebury (17-4) was an at-large selection after falling to No. 6 Bowdoin College in the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) semifinals over the weekend. Last season, the Panthers advanced to the NCAA semis, where they fell to the eventual Division III champion, Case Western Reserve University. A perennial powerhouse, Middlebury, has reached the semifinals in their last three tournament appearances after winning a national championship in 2018.
