MORGANTOWN, W.Va. -- The Allegheny College women's track and field team finished second at the 2024 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Outdoor Track and Field Championships, held on Thursday and Friday at West Virginia University's Mylan Park.
The Gators, winners of the 2023 conference championship, were runners-up this spring with 122 points. Allegheny had a 20.5-point advantage over third-place Grove City College. Westminster College earned the team title with 193 points.
Although the Gators didn't bring home a gold medal, Allegheny earned four silver medals and seven bronzes. AC paced all PAC teams with 19 points in the 400-meter dash, 14 in the 5,000-meter run, and 11 in the discus. Additionally, the Blue and Gold tied the Titans for the most points in the shot put with 15. Allegheny athletes recorded 22 personal records over the two-day championship meet.
Senior sprinter
Zoe Romanowski (Rochester, N.Y./Brighton) finished on the podium in five different races. She was second in the 400-meter dash, fourth in the 200-meter dash, and eighth in the 100-meter finals. Romanowski also opened the 4x100-meter relay and closed the 4x400-meter relay for the Gators, leading Allegheny to two more third-place showings.
Celia Cocca (East Aurora, N.Y./East Aurora), who ran the opening leg of the 4x400, was second in the 800-meter run with a PR time of 2:16.89. In the 5,000-meter distance race, fellow junior
Marrin Crist (Gettysburg, Pa./Gettysburg Area) secured another silver medal at 18:22.26. Crist, who was also third in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, was one of three Gators on the podium in the 5K.
In the field events, Allegheny earned three podium spots in both the shot put and the discus.
Emma Miller (Elyria, Ohio/Lake Ridge Academy) threw a season-best 12.70 meters and was the runner-up in the shot put.
Laila Davis (Springfield, N.J./Jonathan Dayton) was the top Gator in the discus at 35.98 meters.
Second-year thrower
Elizabeth Lubold (Indiana, Pa./Indiana Area) climbed the national rankings with her performance in the javelin. Her first attempt traveled 38.88 meters, a season-best and the 34th-best mark in Division III.
