PAC Release
TRAFFORD, Pa. -- The Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) chose
Sophia Godzak (Belle Vernon, Pa./Belle Vernon) of the Allegheny College softball team as a PAC Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) Scholar-Athlete for the Month for March.
Each month, the SAAC groups at PAC member institutions are asked to nominate one male and one female student-athlete for PAC SAAC Scholar-Athlete of the Month consideration based on academic and athletic accomplishments. Nominees must be varsity team members in their respective sports and in their junior or senior year. Scholar-Athlete of the Month nominees must also have a cumulative grade-point average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher and be actively involved within their campus communities.
In March, Godzak's hitting prowess helped lead the Gators to a 10-4 start, including nine consecutive wins during the team's spring break trip in Florida. The junior hit .348 with one home run, five runs, and 11 RBIs during that stretch. Godzak opened the year with an eight-game hit streak, highlighted by a 4-for-4 performance with a homer in a 7-0 win over Otterbein University on March 5.
Godzak, who was named to the All-PAC First Team in 2023, led all Gators with a .389 batting average and a .461 on-base percentage last season.
In the classroom, Godzak sports a 3.78 grade-point average as a Neuroscience major and Global Health Studies minor. In 2022-23, she received PAC Spring Academic Honor Roll and College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District accolades. Godzak is also a member of Psi Chi, The International Honor Society in Psychology.
Godzak is heavily involved in a variety of clubs and organizations on campus and in the local community. A volunteer in the emergency department at the Meadville Medical Center, she also shadows Brian Ruby, PA-C, at Penn Highlands Orthopedic and Sports Medicine in her hometown of Belle Vernon. A Co-President of Allegheny's SAAC, Godzak is also a member of the Pre-Health and Neuroscience Clubs and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA).
