COLUMBUS, Ohio – A trio of Gators represented the women's track and field team at Ohio State's Jesse Owens Classic Friday (April 19).
Laila Davis (Springfield, N.J./Jonathan Dayton) competed in the hammer throw while
Angelee Bawek (Goodyear, Ariz./Estrella Foothills) and
Elizabeth Lubold (Indiana, Pa./Indiana Area) competed in the javelin.
The field at Ohio State consisted of several top programs across all three NCAA Divisions.
In her second attempt in the hammer throw, Davis had a toss of 51.46 meters to finish in 13th. That mark was not only a personal best by around three meters, but it is currently the 19th best throw in Division III this season. The throw was also the third best in program history.
Lubold threw a season-best distance of 37.99 meters in the javelin to take seventh place. That mark currently sits as the 41st best attempt in Division III this year.
Bawek finished the javelin in 10th place. Her best throw came on her second attempt, hitting 36.03 meters. It was her second-best effort of the season.
