PAC Release

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. -- Allegheny College men's lacrosse placed two on this week's Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) awards list, as Garin Stearns (Hudson, Ohio/Revere) was named the Defensive Player of the Week and Konrad Homiak (Hampstead, N.C./Topsail) was tabbed the Specialist of the Week.

Both Stearns and Homiak were crucial in Allegheny's 10-6 come-from-behind victory over the University of Mount Union last Wednesday. Despite trailing 5-3 at halftime, the Gator defense allowed only one second-half goal, setting the Blue and Gold up for the win.

In goal, Stearns finished with a season-high 15 saves while allowing only six goals, equaling a .714 save percentage. He made seven saves in the second quarter alone, and added eight in the second half to limit the Purple Raiders to just one goal in the last 37 minutes of action. Stearns also caused one turnover and collected four ground balls.

Homiak, Allegheny's long-stick midfielder, recorded season-highs in ground balls (5) and caused turnovers (3). Two of his caused turnovers came in the third quarter, helping the Gators spark the second-half comeback. His efforts in the midfield also helped the Gators limit the Purple Raiders to just a 54.5 clear percentage (12-of-22). 

Allegheny's spring break trip in Virginia begins with their next matchup on Wednesday, March 6, at Shenandoah University. The Gators and Hornets will face off at 4:00 p.m.
