Men's Lacrosse Scores Early and Often in 20-4 Victory at Lycoming

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. -- The Allegheny College men's lacrosse team pummeled Lycoming College en route to its second consecutive victory by a final score of 20-4 on Saturday evening on the road at UPMC Field at Keiper Stadium.

Allegheny's (2-1) lopsided victory included several near-record-breaking performances on the offensive end of the turf against the Warriors (0-4). Seven different Gators earned a point, led by attackman JP Rakis (Kensington, Md./Walter Johnson) with 14. In addition to netting four goals himself, Rakis dished out 10 assists. The senior, who recently became the first player in program history to reach 200 career points, ended just one point and one assist shy of his own single-game records.

First-year attacker Jack Pearl (Ladera Ranch, Calif./JSerra Catholic) put on a goal-scoring clinic in his third collegiate game. Pearl found the back of the net seven times, tying the team record for goals in a game. That included a natural hat trick in a span of 69 seconds in the opening quarter that doubled the early lead to 6-0.

Freshman Nathan Wheeler (Pasadena, Md./Chesapeake) provided five points (4g-1a) and sophomore Tomi Horsley (Salt Lake City, Utah/Brighton) logged three (2g-1a) to round out Allegheny's multi-point producers. Griffin Cates (Arlington Heights, Ill./John Hersey), JaMier Hopkins (Cleveland, Ohio/St. Edward), and Gabe Shoemaker (Brunswick, Maine/Brunswick) added one tally apiece. Shoemaker also won 20-of-26 faceoff attempts and grabbed a game-high 14 ground balls.
