OBERLIN, Ohio -- The Allegheny College men's track and field team earned 11 top-10 finishes across 10 different events in a strong showing at Oberlin College's Bob Kahn Invitational, hosted by the Yeomen on Friday and Saturday.
Two Gators,
Aaron Moon (Springfield, Va./Lake Braddock) and
Austin Stewart (Pittsburgh, Pa./Serra Catholic), placed in the top 10 in both of their events. Moon did so by placing fifth in the triple jump (12.72 meters) and seventh in the 100-meter dash (11.32 seconds). Stewart, a first-year sprinter, was fourth in the 400-meter dash with a personal-record time of 50.47 seconds. He also was 10th in the 200-meter dash (23.12 seconds).
Second-year thrower
Jonah Wells (Wyndmoor, Pa./Springfield Township) turned in one of the best performances of his Gator career. After winning the javelin at last year's Bob Kahn Invitational, Wells was second this spring with a PR mark of 48.12 meters. Allegheny had another runner-up in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, as
Peter Lantz (Lewisburg, Pa./Lewisburg) narrowly beat Oberlin's Liam Newman by less than four-tenths of a second for silver.
Another distance runner, sophomore
Caleb Freeman (Killingworth, Conn./Haddam-Killingworth), added a PR in the 5,000-meter run. He finished fourth with a time of 16:06.41.
Junior
Matt Reynolds (Bel Air, Md./Bel Air) recorded marks in three of the four events he entered. In the field, he was 10th in the javelin (33.55 meters) and 12th in the shot put (10.41 meters). Reynolds also ran the 100-meter dash in 13.10 seconds, one-tenth of a second off the pace of his time from last year's meet at Oberlin.
