ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Four from the Allegheny College women's track and field team competed at the 2023-24 All-Atlantic Region Track and Field Conference (AARTFC) Indoor Championships on Friday and Saturday at Nazareth University.
This year was Allegheny's first-ever trip to the AARTFC Indoor Championships. The conference includes members from throughout the Northeast. Nearly 60 women's track and field teams were at the meet this season and 38 earned a score in the team standings. Student-athletes who hit qualifying marks throughout the indoor season are eligible to compete.
Representing the Gators were
Laila Davis (Springfield, N.J./Jonathan Dayton),
Emma Miller (Elyria, Ohio/Lake Ridge Academy),
Celia Cocca (East Aurora, N.Y./East Aurora), and
Nelly Stafford (Middletown, Md./Middletown).
On Friday, Davis and Miller both participated in the shot put. Davis had the second-best mark in the first flight but finished 13th overall out of 30 throwers at 11.92 meters. Miller's second attempt was her best, reaching 11.44 meters. She placed 18th.
Davis also competed in the weight throw on Saturday, finishing 16th with a distance of 14.54 meters.
On the track, Cocca crossed the finish line in the 800-meter run in 2:23.24 and placed 20th. Stafford matched Cocca by finishing 20th in the one-mile run. Her time of 5:21.70 was just over two seconds shy of her personal record from the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Championships.

Allegheny's indoor season has concluded. The Gators will begin the outdoor track and field season by sending a handful of athletes to the Myrtle Beach Collegiate Challenge on Friday, March 8, and Saturday, March 9.
