BROCKPORT, N.Y. and OBERLIN, Ohio -- Allegheny College men's track and field had a busy weekend of action, as most of the team went to Oberlin College for the Dan Kinsey Invitational on Friday, and two Gators traveled to SUNY Brockport for the Brockport Multi and Invitational.
In Brockport,
Aaron Moon (Springfield, Va./Lake Braddock) and
Matt Reynolds (Bel Air, Md./Bel Air) competed in the heptathlon. Neither Gator completed all seven events, but Moon still managed to set a new program record. The junior transfer won the long jump by reaching 6.95 meters, surpassing the former record of 6.83 meters set by former All-American Stanley Drayton '93 as a senior in 1993.
At Oberlin, Allegheny recorded eight personal records. On the track, the Gators found the most success in the mid-distance and distance events.
Cole Jooste (Upper Saint Clair, Pa./Upper Saint Clair),
Colm Mulligan (Chestnut Hill, Mass./Brookline), and
Zack Wyse (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) finished third, fifth, and sixth, respectively, in the 800-meter run. Wyse then set a PR in the one-mile run and came in fourth with a time of 4:37.36.
First-year pole vaulter
Grant Miller (Punxsutawney, Pa./Punxsutawney Area) was one of three to tie for first place. On their first attempt, Miller and two from Baldwin Wallace University each cleared 4.10 meters, a PR for Miller. However, none of the three could surpass 4.30 meters, resulting in the tie.
Two more freshmen performed well in the field portion of the meet.
Jacob Williams (Greenville, Pa./Reynolds) was second in the long jump, and
Trenton Heasley (Zelienople, Pa./PA Cyber) set a PR en route to a fourth-place showing in the shot put.
