PAC Release
NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. -- Allegheny College center fielder and lead-off hitter
Ryan Dougherty (Wexford, Pa./North Allegheny) was named the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Hitter of the Week following his performance in Sunday's doubleheader against John Carroll University.
Dougherty helped the Gators sweep the John Carroll by scores of 5-2 and 4-2 by hitting a team-best .625 with five hits, two runs, one RBI, and one stolen base across both games.
The senior outfielder tied a single-game career-high with four hits and was a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate in the season-opener. He also scored once and drove in the game-tying run in the seventh inning as Allegheny bounced back from an early 2-0 deficit. In the nightcap, Dougherty singled and scored in the third inning as the Gators once again came from behind with a four-run frame.
Allegheny returns to action when the team kicks off its spring break trip on Friday, March 1, with the first of three games against Maryville College. The series opener in Maryville, Tennessee, at 5:00 p.m.
