YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Aaron Moon (Springfield, Va./Lake Braddock) was named the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Track and Field MVP as the Allegheny men's track and field team finished fourth at the 2024 PAC Indoor Track and Field Championships, hosted by Youngstown State Thursday (Feb. 22).
The Gators earned fourth place by tallying 52.5 points. Grove City won the team title with 140.5 points.
On the day, Moon competed in seven events, scoring points in each. His top finishes came in the 60 meter dash and long jump where he was the runner-up. His time of 7.00 seconds in the 60 meter dash was just .02 seconds off of the first place time. He also earned second-place in the long jump with a personal best leap of 7.01 meters. Additionally in field events, Moon placed third in the triple jump at 12.92 meters, sixth in the pole vault clearing 3.50 meters and eighth in the high jump clearing 1.70 meters. On the track, he also placed fifth in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 8.85 while helping the 4x400 relay finish fifth. In total, Moon accounted for 30.5 of Allegheny's points.
Grant Miller (Punxsutawney, Pa./Punxsutawney Area) also carded a runner-up finish for Allegheny as he earned the placement in the pole vault by clearing a season-best height of 4.20 meters.
Austin Stewart (Pittsburgh, Pa./Serra Catholic) had a pair of top-eight finishes for the Gators. In the 200 meter dash, he took fifth with a time of 22.60. He finished seventh in the 400 meter dash with a time of 22.60. Each of those times was a season-best for Stewart.
Trenton Heasley (Zelienople, Pa./PA Cyber) also carded an individual top-eight performance. In the weight throw, he finished seventh with a best toss of 12.93 meters.
Allegheny also had a pair of relay teams score points. The 4x400 team of Stewart, Moon,
Cole Jooste (Upper Saint Clair, Pa./Upper Saint Clair) and
Zack Wyse (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) finished fifth with a time of 3:31.52. The distance medley team of
Xavier Grove (Pittsburgh, Pa./CAPA),
Eliel Cortez (Wylie, Texas/Wylie East),
Joe McAuliffe (Massillon, Ohio/Jackson) and
Colm Mulligan (Chestnut Hill, Mass./Brookline) took sixth with a time of 11:16.38.

Allegheny's athletes who qualified for the AARTFC Indoor Championships will travel to Rochester, New York, for the meet on Friday, March 1, and Saturday, March 2. The AARTFC Indoor Championships will be hosted by Nazareth College.
