PAC Release
NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. -- After a 20-win season in 2023, Allegheny College baseball was voted No. 3 in the 2024 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Preseason Coaches' Poll.
The Gators received 82 total points, just five shy of second-place Grove City and 10 more than fourth-place Westminster College. Washington and Jefferson College was elected No. 1 with 100 points and 10 first-place votes.
Seventh-year head coach
Brandon Crum returns a slew of talent from the 2023 squad. Only one of the team's six All-PAC selections were lost to graduation, and the five returning award winners were included on the conference's Players to Watch list. That group is headlined by 2023 All-PAC First Team honoree,
Tyson Bryant-Dawson (Oakland, Calif./Manvel (Texas), who logged team highs in slugging percentage (.600), OPS (1.019), hits (45), home runs (8), RBIs (34), and stolen bases (20).
Joining Bryant-Dawson on the watch list are fellow outfielder
Ryan Dougherty (Wexford, Pa./North Allegheny), infielder
Brady Nolin (Cumberland, Maine/Greely), and pitchers
Brent Herrmann (Canfield, Ohio/Canfield) and
Mark Schweickert (Richmond, Va./John Randolph Tucker).
The Gators begin the 2024 season in Beckley, West Virginia, for their annual series against John Carroll University on Saturday, February 24. The opener is scheduled to begin at noon inside Linda K. Epling Stadium.
