NCAC Release
CLEVELAND -- Allegheny College women's track and field placed two former distance runners,
Megg Cantlay '17 (Chagrin Falls, Ohio/Chagrin Halls) and
Sarah Hevener '19 (Hilliard, Ohio/Hilliard Bradley), on the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) 40th Anniversary Women's Indoor Track and Field Team.
Student-athletes who competed in the NCAC between the 2013-14 and the 2022-23 seasons, earned Player of the Year honors, or earned a minimum of three All-NCAC First-Team nods during this time were named to the 40th Anniversary All-Decade Team. In women's indoor track and field, a total of 26 student-athletes have been recognized.
Cantlay and Henever were named the NCAC's Distance Runners of the Year in back-to-back indoor seasons in 2016-17 and 2017-18.
Despite injury troubles, Cantlay bounced back as a senior and performed remarkably at the 2017 NCAC Indoor Championships. Not only did she help both the 4x400 and distance medley relay teams earn gold medals, but the Chagrin Falls, Ohio, native set a personal record in the 800-meter finals. She shaved over seven seconds off her preliminary time and won the title in 2:17.27, the fourth-best time in school history.Â
The following season, Hevener captured the Distance Runner of the Year award with a pair of first-place performances. As a junior in 2017-18, the Hilliard, Ohio, native was victorious in both the 3,000- and 5,000-meter races. Her time of 10:21.73 in the 3,000m was a personal record, and she finished with a 46-second lead in the 5,000m. As a senior, Hevener was the runner-up in the 5,000m and earned All-NCAC Second Team accolades.Â
