DANBURY, Conn. – Jacy Diaz (Barranquitas, Puerto Rico/Gallatin (Tenn.)) and
Dagney Javes (Frederick, Colo./Dawson School) of the Allegheny volleyball team earned honors from the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) for their performances during the 2024 season.
Diaz highlighted the selections by being named the ECAC Defensive Player of the Year, an award she was granted from the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) this season as well. She earned a spot on the All-ECAC First Team after being on the Second Team last year. For the regular season, she ranked sixth in Division III in total digs (674) and 10th in digs per set (6.02), and was second on the team in aces (49). Diaz had double-digit digs in all but one match and, on seven occasions, recorded at least 30 digs in a match. The third-year libero had a season-high 38 digs in a four-set win over Bethany on October 11 and added 37 in a four-set win over PAC tournament finalist Saint Vincent on October 26.
Javes earned a spot on the All-ECAC Second Team after being named the 2024 PAC Offensive Player of the Year. She ended her senior campaign with career highs in kills (410), kills per set (3.60), and hitting percentage (.315). Javes was second in the PAC in hitting percentage and third in both kills and kills per set. She posted double-digit kills in all but six matches this season, including a season-high of 22 in a five-set win over Muskingum on August 30. She also tossed a career-high 26 aces and finished with 69 total blocks.
