SHELBYVILLE, Ind. -- On Saturday afternoon, the Allegheny College men's cross country team finished the 2024 season at the NCAA Division III Great Lakes Regional Championships at the Blue River Cross Country Course in Shelbyville, Indiana.

The Gator quintet placed 32nd out of 42 teams in the region with 918 points in the final standings. Allegheny narrowly beat Albion College, as the Gators finished five points ahead of the Britons. 

Coming off of his third All-Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) performance, junior Caleb Freeman (Killingworth, Conn./Haddam-Killingworth) once again led the way. The only Gator in the top 100, Freeman placed 76th out of 283 total runners.  He made up significant ground throughout the eight-kilometer race. Freeman was 95th following the first two kilometers but passed 10 runners between the second and third kilometer and 11 more by the 6K mark.

Senior Zack Wyse (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) was the next Gator to the finish line in 170th place, followed by junior Cole Jooste (Upper Saint Clair, Pa./Upper Saint Clair) in 194th. Jooste completed the course at 28:42.70 and was Allegheny's biggest mover on Saturday. He surpassed over 30 competitors between the 3K and 6K marks.
