BEREA, Ohio -- Allegheny College women's track and field won two relay events as part of another strong showing against a quality field on Saturday at Baldwin Wallace University's Dr. William Taraschke Team Challenge.
Two of Allegheny's three victories were earned by the relay crews.
The 4x400-meter relay was decided by less than a second. The group of
Celia Cocca (East Aurora, N.Y./East Aurora),
Logan Wagner (Woodville, Ohio/Oak Harbor),
Renee Tetlow (Geneva, Ohio/Geneva), and
Skye Kramer (Willow Grove, Pa./Upper Moreland) recorded a total time of 4:16.11. Case Western Reserve University's runner-up quartet was a mere three-quarters of a second behind the winners from Allegheny at 4:16.86.
Tetlow and Kramer then teamed with
Samantha Oakes (Horseheads, N.Y./Horseheads) and
Nelly Stafford (Middletown, Md./Middletown) to capture gold in the distance medley relay. The Gators outpaced the competition by a significant margin in the DMR, as their time of 13:29.12 was more than 50 seconds better than the second-place team from BWU.
In addition to her role on the 4x400 relay, Wagner also won the 400-meter dash. Her time of 1:02.27 was not only a personal record, but the second-year sprinter was more than a minute faster than the runner-up from CWRU.
Among the field events, first-year pole vaulter
Corinne Inkley (Randolph, N.Y./Randolph Central) set a PR while qualifying for the All-Atlantic Regional Track and Field Conference (AARTFC) Championships. After winning the pole vault at last weekend's Fighting Scots Invitational, Inkley added 15-hundredths of a meter to her height, placing third at BWU with a mark of 3.35 meters.
