BETHLEHEM, Pa. -- Allegheny College men's cross country ran in a crowded pack at Lehigh University's Paul Short Run, as the Gators placed 17th out of 34 teams in the men's college 8,000-meter white race on Saturday.
Facing programs from New England to Texas to California and a plethora of Division II teams, the Gators completed their first 8K of the fall. Allegheny was represented by 14 student-athletes in a field of 376 total runners.
The duo of
Peter Lantz (Lewisburg, Pa./Lewisburg) and
Sam Hetrick (Meadville, Pa./Saegertown) finished just two seconds apart and led the Gators by placing 60th and 65th, respectively. Lantz was clocked at 27:16.9, while Hetrick logged an 8K personal record at 27:18.9.Â
Caleb Freeman (Killingworth, Conn./Haddam-Killingworth),
Zack Wyse (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin), and
Cole Jooste (Upper Saint Clair, Pa./Upper Saint Clair) rounded out Allegheny's scoring quintet. Freeman crossed the finish line at 27:54.8, Wyse had a PR at 28:02.6, and Jooste was not far behind at 28:03.3.
