MEADVILLE, Pa. -- Nine of the top 10 finishers at the 2023 Allegheny College Classic four-mile race were Gators, as the hosts cruised to a first-place finish on their home course at the Robertson Athletic Complex on Saturday morning.

The Gators took home both team and individual gold. Allegheny had the lowest points possible in a cross country race with 15, followed by Thiel College with 68 and Chatham University with 69.

La Roche, Carlow, Penn State Fayette, and Penn State DuBois also had runners at the meet, but not enough to earn a team score.

Crossing the finish line in first, second, and third place were Colm Mulligan (Chestnut Hill, Mass./Brookline), Peter Lantz (Lewisburg, Pa./Lewisburg), and Sam Hetrick (Meadville, Pa./Saegertown). Mulligan completed the four-mile course in 21:22 and held a 32-second lead over Lantz (21:54). Hetrick was not far behind, as the first-year runner placed third with a time of 22:04.

In places fifth through 10th was a host of Gators, including Patrick Sharp (Brighton, N.Y./Brighton), Caleb Freeman (Killingworth, Conn./Haddam-Killingworth), Nick Gallo (Chester, W.Va./Oak Glen), Joe McAuliffe (Massillon, Ohio/Jackson), Zack Wyse (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin), and Lucas Bradley (New Castle, Pa./New Castle).
