PAC Release

TRAFFORD, Pa. -- The results of the 2023 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Volleyball Preseason Coaches' Poll are in, and Allegheny College was picked third out of 11 teams in the conference, as announced on Friday.

After going 17-12 overall with a 7-3 PAC record in 2022, the Gators were one of three teams to receive a first-place vote and finished with 69 total points. Allegheny held a slim lead over Chatham University, which followed closely behind in fourth place with 68 points. Bethany College (90) and Grove City College (86) finished one-two atop the preseason poll.

Three Allegheny student-athletes were highlighted on the PAC's Players to Watch list. Second-year libero Jacy Diaz (Barranquitas, Puerto Rico/Gallatin (Tenn.)), an All-PAC Second Team selection in 2022, and junior middle Dagney Javes (Frederick, Colo./Dawson School), an All-PAC Honorable Mention, were both included. They were joined by senior outside/middle hitter Emma Chambers (Stoutsville, Ohio/Amanda Clearcreek), who earned one PAC Offensive Player of the Week award last fall.

Allegheny opens the 2023 campaign at the Great Lakes Cross Over, a 23-team tournament held at the Cedar Point Sports Complex in Sandusky, Ohio, on Friday, September 1, and Saturday, September 2. The Gators kick off the tournament on Friday with matches against Heidelberg University and Ohio Northern University at 2:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m., respectively.
