BEREA, Ohio -- The Allegheny College women's track and field program completed its final tune-up before next week's Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) championships with a strong showing at the 53rd Sparky Adams Invitational.
Nine Gators combined for 11 personal records at Baldwin Wallace University, and one first-year thrower earned the first victory of her young career.
Elizabeth Lubold (Indiana, Pa./Indiana Area), who competed in the javelin for just the second time this spring, won the event with a PR distance of 33.10 meters. The winning throw came on her second of six attempts, and Lubold finished with a 0.88-meter advantage over the runner-up from John Carroll University.
Although sophomores
Emma Miller (Elyria, Ohio/Lake Ridge Academy) and
Laila Davis (Springfield, N.J./Jonathan Dayton) did not produce PRs on any of their throws, the duo finished inside the top 5 in the shot put. Miller was the runner-up at 12.41 meters, and Davis came in fourth place at 11.45 meters. Davis also led all Gators in the hammer by taking 13th place (39.29 meters).
On the track, first-year
Chloe Bonson (Penn Township, Pa./Penn-Trafford) ran two PRs in the mid-distance races. She clocked in at 2:38.72 in the 800-meter run and 5:15.71 in the 1,500-meter race.
Junior
Madeline Allen (Columbus, Ohio/Worthington Kilbourne) logged the first sub-20-minute 5,000-meter time of her career, as she placed 13th with a PR time of 19:56.92.
In the 400-meter hurdles,
