GREENVILLE, Pa. -- The Allegheny College women's track and field team returned from the 2023 Tomcat Invitational, hosted by Thiel College on Saturday, with multiple personal-record performances.
All of the sprinters and mid-distance runners Allegheny sent to Thiel earned at least one PR, as did five throwers. In total, 13 Gators ended with at least one new personal-record performance.
Highlighting a strong outing for Allegheny were runners-up
Marrin Crist (Gettysburg, Pa./Gettysburg Area) and
Hope Gómez (Laveen, Ariz./Valley Christian).
Crist, who won the 3,000-meter steeplechase at Carnegie Mellon University last month, logged a new PR and came in second place with a time of 11:56.81. She was nearly eight seconds faster than her victory at CMU.
In the javelin, Gómez launched her second throw 36.95 meters, which was only 14-hundredths of a meter shy of the winning distance. The throw was more than a full meter better than her previous PR of 35.91 from last spring.
